Teeth Whitening Philips Zoom
At A.L. Dental, we use the Zoom whitening system which is the easiest and most comfortable way to get immediate results. Other methods like home trays, whitening strips, or whitening toothpaste can take more than a month to have any effect.
Zoom takes no more than 2 hours and targets the deeper stains on your teeth for the best possible results.
- The Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp accelerates the bleaching process
- Zoom whitening gel containing hydrogen peroxide is applied to your teeth
- As hydrogen peroxide breaks down, oxygen enters your teeth enamel and dentine
- The oxygen bleaches your teeth, removing deeper stains
There are several causes, however the most common are aging and consumption of staining substances such as coffee, tea, tobacco, red wine, etc.
Most people will be able to experience the full benefits of zoom whitening.
At A.L. Dental, we prioritise any major dental before we advise treatments such as whitening. We believe first and foremost in maintaining the health of your mouth. As whitening is mainly a cosmetic treatment, this means that if you have any outstanding decay, periodontal disease, or other major treatments that need to be addressed, we will address those first before we look at whitening treatment.
If you are new to our clinic, you will require an oral examination before any whitening.
It is also important to note that existing fillings or crowns will not whiten with the treatment.
There are No significant side effects with Zoom whitening. Zoom whitening can cause temporary sensitivity in teeth and gums, this varies between patients. There is also the slight risk of gingival or soft tissue burns as the gel we use has a high percentage of hydrogen peroxide. Our dental professionals have procedures in place to avoid burns from happening, rest assured you are in safe hands!
You may also experience dry lips and a dry throat immediately after the procedure.
As with any tooth whitening product, Zoom!™ is not recommended for children under 13 years of age and pregnant or lactating women.
The Zoom whitening gel contains ACP and potassium nitrate which does not weaken, damage, soften or remove the enamel of your teeth, and it has no adverse effects on existing dental work such as fillings or crowns. In fact, it protects your enamel and gives your teeth a greater lustre and smoothness.
$669, and it is claimable on health insurance, so be sure to get a quote before you decide to go ahead with treatment or not.
This is something that varies between people depending on their habits. Things such as smoking, drinking coffee, tea, red wine and eating heavily pigmented foods such as turmeric, beetroot, pasta sauces and the like will cause your results to fade much faster. The Zoom whitening procedure includes a take-home touch-up kit and trays that can be used whenever discolouration is noticed. Generally speaking, results can last upwards of 6 months if post-operative instructions are followed. Most often a touch-up once a year will maintain a whiter smile that sparkles for years.
At A.L. Dental we ask the patient to come in for a consultation with our hygienist, where the procedure is explained thoroughly, all questions are answered, shade of teeth taken and impressions for the take-home bleaching trays are taken. Once all is explained, we book a follow-up appointment for the full bleaching process, which usually takes up to 2 hours.
The patient will then be given a bleaching home kit for maintenance touch-ups, if needed, as well as a desensitising gel that can be used post-treatment if teeth continue to be sensitive.
